  24. About the Profile Update

The enclosed archive contains a new ModemProfiles file for your FaxSTF™ 3.3.x Network Edition software which should be installed in place of the one currently installed.   Additional modems are included for which support has been added since the software was first released and since the last Profile Update.  This profile is for use with the FaxSTF 3.3.x Network Edition software.  If you are using FaxSTF version 3.2, please download the file titled 
  27. "3.2.x Profile Update".

Please Note:   The ACD (Advanced Compatiblity Drivers) adds support for the modems added with this profile and must be installed to use these modems.  Please refer to the ACD ReadME located in the "ACD" folder for installation instructions.  IN ORDER TO USE THESE DRIVERS (and this profile), YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST VERSION 3.3.1.  If you have version 3.3 please download and install the FaxSTF 3.3 -> 3.3.1  Updater and then apply these drivers and modem profile.

  65. Installation

  67. Installation is a simple process.  If you are using System Software 7.0 or later go to the Finder and follow these steps:

  70. 1.  Open the STF folder located inside your System folder.
  71.  
  72. 2.    Open the 3.2.x Profile Update folder that was placed on your desktop.  
  73.  
  74. 3.    Drag the new ModemProfiles file from the folder to your Components folder.  You will be warned that another item with the same name already exists:

  76.  Click OK to replace.
  77.     
  78. 4.    Open the STF Settings application from your FaxSTF™ folder located on your harddrive. Select the FaxModem settings panel.
  79.  
  80. 5.    Click the Modem button to view the list of modem models and select your modem from the list.  
  81.  
  82. 6.     Close the Modem selection dialog and click the Done button to close STF Settings.

  84. 7.     Restart your computer.

  88.             In order for this modem to work, you will need the latest Flash Rom from Zyxel, which is 2.03.  Please follow the Release Notes Zyxel provides for updating their modem.  Since this modem is an ISDN modem, you will need to add some characters to the init string, which is located in STF Settings, under Modem Init.  You will need to add &O0&L1 to the init string.  L1 stands for line one.  If you would prefer to use line two, then you will need to add &L2 instead of &L1.  After you have added this to the init string, the init string should look like this:  AT&O0&L1&D2VE.  You will also need to enter the ISDN numbers, through a data application, into the modem.  You will need to enter the following commands.

  91. ATSPID0=                (Then enter the first SPID number.  You should receive an OK.)
  92. ATSPID1=                (Then enter the second SPID number.  You should also receive an OK.)

  94. You have now entered the ISDN numbers and should be able to use the modem.  If you have any questions about the modem, please contact Zyxel Tech Support.  Manual Receive has been disabled.

  97. Manual Send support has been added for this modem.  The following procedures should be followed when manually sending with this modem:

  99. 1)  When "Answer On:" is set to never in the FaxModem Settings Panel, follow the standard Manual Send procedure so that the manual send dialog appears asking the user to dial the number the fax is to be sent to.
  100.  
  101. 2)  Once the correct number is dialed, and the first ring is heard, click the "Connect" button in the Manual Send dialog.
  102.  
  103. This procedure solves timing issues specific to the Supra 288 V.34 modem.  If this procedure is not followed when "Answer On:" is set to never in the FaxModem Settings Panel, the manual send will fail with a -6095 error.
